HANNAH THOBURN is a Research Fellow at the Hudson Institute specializing in Eastern European politics, civil society in Eurasia, and the US relationship with Eastern Europe. Her writings on topics like the manipulation of historical memory for political purposes, and disinformation tactics and campaigns have been published in The Washington Post, Foreign Affairs, The American Interest, and The Boston Globe among others. Before joining Hudson, she worked at the Brookings Institution and the Foreign Policy Initiative. She also served as a Teaching Fellow at Yale University and spent two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in southern Ukraine. She has also served an an election monitor in Ukraine and poll worker in Washington, DC. Ms. Thoburn holds an M.A. in International Relations from Yale University, and a B.A. in International Affairs from Florida State University. She speaks Russian, Spanish, and Ukrainian.
