Lorne Craner is Co-Director of the Transatlantic Renewal Project and Founder of Redstone Global, a new risk practice focused on the political potential of grassroots individuals and movements in frontier markets. He was President of the International Republican Institute from 2004-’14 and from 1995-’01. He was Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor at the US Department of State from 2001-’04. Upon his departure he received the Distinguished Service Award, the Department’s highest honor, from Secretary Colin Powell. His other government service includes Director of Asian Affairs at the National Security Council and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Legislative Affairs both in the George H.W. Bush administration. Craner’s career began on Capitol Hill, working for Senator John McCain and for Congressman Jim Kolbe.
