JEFFREY GEDMIN is a senior fellow at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, in Washington, and at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, in London. He has served as president of the London-based Legatum Institute, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty in Prague, and the Aspen Institute Berlin. In the 1990s, he was a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, where he directed the New Atlantic Initiative. Gedmin is a regular contributor to the Huffington Post and his commentary and articles have appeared in numerous publications. He is author of The Hidden Hand: Gorbachev and the Collapse of East Germany and the recipient of the Golden Linden Medal from the Czech government for his contributions to democracy, human rights, and liberty. He earned his doctorate degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, where he has also taught, and currently serves on the board of the school’s masters program. Gedmin was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Tbilisi State University, in Georgia, is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, in New York.
